New Board of Directors
Four back-to-back meetings were held on December 1 2005. They were very well organized and we were finished by 8:30. Amazing!
For the first, we had more than a quorum of firefighters (Chris Peters dropped by for a few minutes, Jon Huff phoned in as he deplaned in Lousianna, and at least one other voted by phone) required to legally approve new By-Laws, and for the next year, nominate and elect a Fire Chief, an Assistant Fire Chief, and a Board of Directors.>
In the second meeting, the Board elected a Treasurer and a Secretary from its members and approved two amendments to our Articles of Incorporation. The Board has firefighters Phyllis Jackson (Fire Chief), Jim Kitchens (Assistant Fire Chief), Lisa Vaughan (Secretary), Cary Fordyce (Treasurer), Ed Frey and Glenn Galau, and from the community, Pat Kellogg and John Fuller.
In the third, the Board held a monthly business meeting. In order to be a not-for-profit organization, the Board must decide all business matters, but it intends to be guided by all those who attend the meetings in the spirit, if not the letter, of how business has been conducted in the past.
And in the fourth meeting, Jim Kitchens vividly described the damage and cleanup work around Biloxi, Mississippi, where he was working as a member of the EPA.
